Groundforce Portugal restarted the full-service operation at Faro Airport on April 1st, which comprises passenger assistance, ramp operations and baggage handling.

This return happens after Groundforce Portugal suspending its operation in Faro in 2011 to reduce losses. After seven years and a deep restructuring process and with the collaboration of all the workers, Groundforce Portugal returned to positive operating results, allowing the company to return with confidence and financial strength to the Faro Station.

115 jobs were created to ensure the operation, and, in the medium term, the Company expects to hire 35 more employees, to a total of 140 jobs.

At Faro Airport, Groundforce Portugal will assist, among others, TAP Portugal, British Airways, Iberia, BA City Flyer, Vueling, Aer Lingus, Small Planet and Aigle Azur.

With this operation, Groundforce extends its presence to five airports (Lisbon, Porto, Funchal, Porto Santo and Faro) with quality services offered by highly specialized employees and consolidates its leadership in the Ground Handling market in Portugal.

For Paulo Neto Leite, Groundforce Chief Executive Officer, "this is an operation that meets our growth and sustainability strategy. Faro Airport has witnessed an increase in tourism, with an exponential increase in passengers, which has contributed, in a great extent, to the development of the South of the Country. We have a highly motivated and trained team with a total focus on the quality of service, to mark this return with the operational excellence and efficiency that are the hallmark of this singular moment that we are living in the Company."
